It's almost time to get gardening. This is always one of my favorite times of the year. Yesterday, I cleaned out our Rhubarb and Asparagus beds, and now I just have to wait. Not the easiest part of gardening for me. I'm hoping we will actually see Spring before Summer comes this year; it's not looking too promising. This is a photo of our rhubarb coming up last May, and as of yesterday, our best-looking plant is about the size of the small one in the top corner. Oh well, that's what happens with Spring in Wisconsin! Sunny and 70 degrees one day and freezing with snow flurries 24 hours later. I'm sure our plants will grow more significant than ever once we get some sunshine and warm temperatures to help them out. Then, I can share an easy way to preserve rhubarb for the off-season.
Do you happen to see those boards in the photo? That's because Chief has built me some fantastic, raised garden beds that are terraced into our hill. (It's hard to grow things when everything washes out!) I'll share more about the process of the raised beds and some photos of them in an upcoming post.
